Ghandi biography
Mohandas Ghandi was born October 2, 1869. In 1888 when Gandhi was 18 he left India, without his wife and
sons, in order to study to become a lawyer. Although Ghandi successfully finished his studies as a lawyer he was not successful with his career as a layer. When Ghandi was getting to Africa he was kicked out of the bus for refusing to move down to 3rd class. As a result Gandhi twenty years working to better Indians' rights in South Africa. After a while Ghandi became famous and was considered a leader of the indian community in Africa. Then he moved back to india and inspected the sanitation system of the rich as well as the untouchables. After a while Ghandi simplified his life to associate himself with the untouchables.
After his first year back in india he was given the honorary title of Mahatma. Ghandi then started turning on the british and asked the indians to practice satyagraha which meant that they had to let the british be aggressive but they had to be passive. Then ghandi started to make a march for salt because it showed how the british government exploited the poor of india by charging taxes on salt. Ghani retired from politics in the 1930's. on August 15 1947 Britain granted india its independence. The problem that arose frome this independence was that there was a major problem between hundus and muslims. To stop the violence between muslims and hindus ghandi fasted. This worked because both sides realized that ghandi was frail of health so both sides worked together to achieve peace. Although most people were happy with the new peace some people weren't as a result Ghandi was assasinated at the age of 78 by Nathuram Godse.
Ghandi lived by this quote " when i despair, I remeber that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. think of it. Always". I think he lived by this quote when he asked the indians to practice satyagraha. I think this because Ghandi asked his followers to take the aggresion but to not fight back so that the opponent would respect the indians. He also lived by this when he decided to live a simple life and associate himself with the untouchables. These are signs of how Ghandi lived the quote above.
